The Mars 2112 restaurant is a space themed restaurant for the entire family located in the heart of the Times Square district at 51 Street and Broadway. Mars 2112 is a spectacular mingling of fantasy and reality, a 35,000-square-foot, bi-level, multi-dimensional, immersive environment that catapults travelers to a completely new world.


Mars is the fourth planet from the sun. The planet is one of Earth's "next-door neighbors" in space. Earth is the third planet from the sun, and Jupiter is the fifth. Like Earth, Jupiter, the sun, and the remainder of the solar system, Mars is about 4.6 billion years old.


Mars is named for the ancient Roman god of war. The Romans copied the Greeks in naming the planet for a war god; the Greeks called the planet Ares (AIR eez). The Romans and Greeks associated the planet with war because its color resembles the color of blood. Viewed from Earth, Mars is a bright reddish-orange. It owes its color to iron-rich minerals in its soil. This color is also similar to the color of rust, which is composed of iron and oxygen.

    Ate here for the first time yesterday. When first entering there was no one at the entrance to greet us, so we went to the nearby gift shop where the worker gave us a pass for free arcade game. Then directed us to stand in the lobby area until someone came to get us. The person who came to get us came out of the space looking elevator and we were taking into a place that resembled a space shuttle to watch a movie about Mars. After the 4 minute movie we were escorted off the ship to follow the path to the restaurant. The entire setup is fantasy-like and looks like we are in a Mars cave. The rocks and cave walls were a reddish color. The entire place (including dining area) was dark and dim lit. It was so dark it was difficult to read the menu. The waiter/waitress staff wore uniforms that resembled Star Trek type suit jackets. There were life-like aliens walking about stopping for pictures as we dined. The food was slightly higher priced, but still good n tasty. The only problem I encountered was they made us wait about 15-20 minutes before anyone came to take our order or greet us after sitting down at the table. Other than that it was a good time and something the kids enjoyed.
